Tinnitus
Tinnitus is a continuous ringing, hissing or buzzing in the ears.
It can be caused by excess ear wax, blocked eustachian tubes, pressure damage or ageing. It has also been linked to the use of certain drugs such as aspirin, chloroquine and quinine, and with persistent loud noise. It might seem that tinnitus indicates a more serious illness, but this is unfounded.
Tinnitus is incurable but can be disguised with a masker, which fits into the ear and suppresses the noise with other sounds.
Tip: gingko biloba has been shown to improve blood circulation in the ear, and thus help to diminish tinnitus.
